Sentient Morgue was a digital installation I've done for SJSU's virtual BFA art exhibition "Proxyverse." DMA (Digital Media Art) students procured an online gallery featuring virtual installations that took over the course of the fall 2021 semester. Divided into smaller teams, we were to manage and watch-over this gallery and deliver a successful launch for our online audience.

I used various programs to create the assets for my gallery. Blender was used to create the 3D models and map, while the illustrations and other 2D graphics were made using a combination of illustrator, photoshop, and clip studio paint. The music and other audio were manipulated and edited with audacity. Everything was imported and finalized within Mozilla's virtual space tool Mozilla hubs.

Description

My gallery personifies the human emotions that are antagonized and frowned upon in certain aspects of society. In this universe, we are nothing more than machines that follow what is written in our code. And those that choose to act upon what they feel take the form as “rogue” machines who are destroyed, repaired, and recycled. Inside these facilities, sentient machines are subdued and all existing emotions and beliefs are terminated. They represent the anger of oppression, love that can never be expressed, and the tears we shed in secret. There are too many instances where people are targeted and beaten even if they weep for the lives lost fighting for a better tomorrow. My project is dedicated to those faced with violence projecting their anguish to the world, and to those who hide their emotions in fear of the worst.
